Absinthe!

A Scene from Absinthe

On Saturday night, I reaffirmed that circus people scare me just a bit. Absinthe, a circus (freak) show playing in a tent on the South Street Seaport is oodles of weirdness and fun. I went because Julz said how amazing it was and how it also contained something that even put Julie in distress, which is no small task. I had also heard about said act via Mark Waldrop, the director of My Deah. Throughout the night, my friend and I were looking for "the hanky' act. As it turns out, they change up the acts, so instead we saw a Polish guy with a likeness for confetti, dislocate himself in between two tennis racquets. Entertaining, yes, but still disappointing that we were denied the hanky. Because I felt like I missed out, I had Mark reenact the entire thing (with clothes on)in rehearsal the next day. Basically, the woman starts off in a business suit and ends up stripping down until she is completely naked (all the while pulling a hanky out of different places on her person). Until...she stands there in the buff, looks around, bends over, and you guessed it, pulls the hanky out of her cooch (or as Julz calls it snatch). MY GOD. The show ends on a high note. With this Abercrombie-like model guy in jeans in a bathtub (with water), swinging into the rafters on these ropes. He splashes, he's hot, and even has a rubber ducky. Nice touch.

After that, my friend and I went to eat on the boardwalk. It is so beautiful down at the seaport right by the Brooklyn Bridge. We watched the salsa dancers for a while, which included a glamorous transgender with rhinestone sunglasses and fishnets and an eight year girl dancing like Beyonce. We got caught up in it all and danced for a while, got some ice cream, and passed out. Way too much stimulation.
