Happy Valentine's Day!

I was asked to be a reader (read with people that are auditioning) for the upcoming play, My Deah. It is a southern version on the Greek tragedy, Medea. Very wacky. John Epperson is the playwright, Mark Waldrop is directing, starring Nancy Opal and Bryan Batt. Towards the end of the day, they were discussing how they hadn't found anyone to play, "Simplicity." They were going to call the original girl, but knew she was in LA. Kim, my pal, sent a note to the director about me auditioning for it, the director whispered, "She's too pretty." This is when my great pal, Jan, shook her head and said, "No, she's not." They turned to me and said, "You want to read for it?" I said, "Right now?!" And the casting director said, "Well, we're all sitting here." I was immediately nervous...they decided to see the girl who was auditioning for it before me, so I had a bit of prep. The casting director said, "Take off your boots, take off your jacket." Without even questioning, I did. I went in and had a truly out-of-body experience. I was in a zone. I was spanking myself! It was nuts. I wasn't playing it "safe." People were laughing. Mark said, "That was very funny." I said, "Thanks." And I left. I am sure if I had more time to prepare, I'd have mucked it up. Anyway, I am psyched, I was told last night that I got the part.
